Position Overview
The Construction Discipline Lead directs, coordinates, and exercises construction functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering and to comply with procurement and construction requirements for the scope of future new Nuclear projects. 

 

What You'll Do Here:

  • Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
  • Plans and implements an engineering and construction program, including defining the project plan, activities, milestones, and manpower requirements.
  • Provides direction and input to the project schedule and budget and understanding the interfaces to Construction from Engineering and Procurement.
  • Supports the DSP in preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, advanced/construction work pack correlation, modularization, and system handover strategies etc.
  • Reviews project design for compliance with construction based engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Advises on construction related activities relating to technical developments, scheduling and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Working knowledge of Advanced Work Packaging (AWPs).
  • Provides input to procurement activities including validation of material specifications, preparation of purchase requisitions, materials material tracking and ensuring traceability of materials when installed in the field.
  • Active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understating and implementing policies and procedures.

 

What You'll Bring to the Team:

  • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity. 
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree AND 10+ years of related experience that includes a background in leadership positions, OR a Master’s degree and 8+ years of related that includes a background in leadership positions.
  • Minimum 10+years’ experience in project engineering in a construction or EPC environment
  • Due to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng)
  • Experience of managing multi-discipline design teams
  • Experience of Design Authority
  • Certified by the Project Management Institute (PMP) or equivalent
  • Knowledge / experience of contract requirements
  • Experience of delivering engineering packages in a highly regulated environment
