What is the Opportunity?

The EHS Co-op will support the Concessions team in advancing environmental, health, and safety initiatives across diverse operational environments. This role is ideal for a student passionate about environmental protection, sustainability, safety culture, and climate resilience. You will contribute to the development of training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and strategic assessments that enhance Aecon’s EHS performance and readiness. 

 

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Collaborate with the Environmental Director to design and deliver EHS training materials tailored to various employee groups, including field staff, supervisors, and contractors.
  • Assist in drafting and updating SOPs aligned with Aecon’s EHS Management System and project-specific requirements.
  • Assist in generating and maintaining reports, dashboards, and other documentation.
  • Support the development of climate change vulnerability assessments and resiliency plans for projects.
  • Contribute to the creation of digital and interactive training content (e.g., PowerPoint, video modules, toolbox talks).
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to gather feedback and ensure training relevance and effectiveness.
  • Help maintain accurate records of training, SOP revisions, and resiliency plans.
  • Attend EHS team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement discussions.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PPT). Experience with digital learning tools is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative team approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi disciplinary team environment.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, safety culture, and environmental stewardship.
