The Green Energy Services team at Aecon is bringing energy solutions to residential customers across Canada. The service offering includes solar PV rooftop systems, energy storage, EV charging stations and the integration of these devices into the overall residential energy management platform. 
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer - Residential Energy Technologies, who will report to the Senior Manager, Utility Engineering, to lead engineering and design of low carbon residential technology services– rooftop solar, EV charging and battery storage solutions. 


What You'll Do Here:

  • Electrical design services on a variety of residential single family, multifamily homes and commercial building projects (both new construction and retrofit).
  • Performs electrical load, voltage drop and service calculations, as well as design and layout of power distribution systems, electrical devices, fixtures, controls and equipment.
  • Produce material take off and bill of materials.
  • Produces construction documents (drawings and specifications) for new buildings, renovations and additions to existing facilities to make them ready for new energy technologies. 
  • Oversee electrical contractors and subcontractors, answer questions about power needs and electric codes, as well as guide workers throughout the construction process. 
  • Conduct site visit surveys of buildings for the purposes of collecting design information related to electrical service.
  • Adhere to corporate quality control and assurance processes for all electrical design work.
  • Complete applications for ESA or construction permits. 
  • Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.


What You Bring to the Team:

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; relevant advanced degree is preferred.
  • Professional engineering license (P.Eng.).
  • Electrical expertise in enabling homes with EV, solar, energy storage technologies.
  • 3+ Years in a design capacity role for residential/commercial PV, Energy Storage, Microgrid, or EV charging projects.
  • Familiarity with Canadian Building Codes and the Canadian Electrical Code as well as referenced standards.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation software.
