Aecon is seeking an Environmental Coordinator to join our transformative infrastructure project within the GTA.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Maintain the Environmental Management System and ensure compliance with applicable best practices, regulations, Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and site-specific plans.
- Provide reports and attend on-site meetings as required.
- Manage data collection, storage and analysis.
- Oversee daily construction activities to ensure work is completed in compliance with all relevant client requirements as well as provincial and/or federal regulations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor environmental programs and policies.
- Provide advice to project leadership regarding environmental matters as they relate to construction activities.
- Monitor construction activities and evaluate compliance with applicable standards, contract documents and client commitments.
- Monitor and report any potential environmental issues and recommendations for appropriate mitigation and corrective actions.
- Provide training to employees and contractors on environmental awareness.
- Draft, review and submit daily field reports, incident reports, and compliance audits.
- Track key project performance indicators and develop reports.
- Work with project coordinators/managers, using interpersonal and organizational skills to ensure projects are completed in accordance with an established scope of work.
- Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Technical diploma, B.Sc., or equivalent with appropriate qualifications for work in Canada with a minimum of three years’ experience conducting construction site environmental monitoring activities.
- Certification in environmental specialty area preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., PBiol, BIT, Trainee RBTech, AAg, EPt, etc.) or ability to obtain is an asset.
- Experience working successfully in large, multi-disciplinary engineering design teams and heavy civil construction teams.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, coordinating resources as well as the ability to solve problems.
- Strong knowledge of Provincial and Federal regulations, codes, permits and approvals, as well as their technical application.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint).
- Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.
- A valid driver’s license.
