Position Overview

 

Aecon is well-positioned in the Canadian marketplace as an industry leader in the development and construction of infrastructure. We have a roster of ongoing major projects here and abroad, record backlog diversified across multiple sectors and duration, and a robust pipeline of future project pursuits. We are in a strong market position, but we are ultimately aiming higher.


We are currently looking for a SAP FICO Functional Lead (Finance and Controlling) who will be responsible for leading the SAP FICO module within the Aecon SAP ECC application. The incumbent would be working as part of the Applications Team, within our Information Services Department, and is expected to ensure business objectives are met through the operational health of the SAP FICO module, as well as to make contributions to projects and development changes which impact SAP FICO module.
 
Key Responsibilities

 

  • Gather, analyze, and prioritize business requirements by conducting workshops in coordination with cross-function organizations.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Aecon (Construction industry specific) business processes and strategy through collaboration and regular engagement with key stakeholders and business process owners.
  • Act as liaison with clients for troubleshooting: investigate, analyze, and solve software problems for SAP FICO production incidents.
  • Perform detailed analysis of complex business process requirements and provide appropriate system solutions; identify, interpret, validate and document customer requirements.
  • Manage application design and blueprint in SAP FICO module according to Aecon Business process and requirements.
  • Configuration of SAP FICO functionality for any requirement/enhancement.
  • Develop and maintain SAP FICO functional documentation.
  • Document and execute Unit and System Integration testing.
  • Coordinate with the QA Lead and QA Team to ensure appropriate QA testing.
  • Coordinate work with other SAP Functional Analysts and Leads to ensure proper integration.
  • Collaborate with other internal IT organizations (Development, Basis, Security, etc.) to ensure optimal work processes are followed and organization’s IT Strategy is delivered.
  • Be the hands-on application expert during integration and user acceptance testing.
  • Provide or lead the end user training in the FICO area.
  • Provide support and expertise after go-live of the initial rollout of projects.
  • Ensure current-day SAP best-practices are followed.
  • Follow all practices of Aecon Remedy (ITSM) tool and contribute for enhancement. Manage changes and/or expediated transports as needed for high priority issues.
  • Work closely and productively with application support/implementation vendor for day-to-day work or any other work.
  • Work self-directed and independently; may act as subject matter and mentor junior members.
  • Participate in internal, customer and regulatory audits if required.
  • Support the information systems and operate according to internal standards, external accrediting agency standards and legal requirements.
  • Ensure the integrity of IT assets & information.

 

Required Knowledge & Skills

 

  • University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related area from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 8+ years of SAP experience within ECC6.0.
  • Strong configuration understanding of SAP FICO.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of General Ledger (FI-GL), Accounts Payable (FI-AP), Accounts Receivable (FI-AR), Bank Accounting (FI-BL), Asset Accounting (FI-AA), Funds Management (FI-FM), Special Purpose Ledger (FI-SL), Cost element accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Internal Order accounting, Activity based costing, Product Cost Controlling, Profitability Analysis, Profit Center Accounting and overall know-how of standard SAP reports for FICO.
  • Ability to understand and configure different business scenarios, such as International Companies, Multi-currencies, Banking, etc. 
  • Experience supporting SAP Concur integrations.
  • Knowledge of integration of FICO with HCM, MM, PP, PS, ETM, CPM, SD modules.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of Record to Report process including master data (GL Accounts, Vendors, Customers, Cost Centers, Profit Centers, etc. configuration (IMG) and Standard SAP Reports for FICO.
  • Must have SAP PI/PO Integration exposure and Banking, CRA etc. 
  • Must have experience of integration/interface of SAP FICO with non-SAP system and experienced doing EDI.
  • Must have experience with FIORI functionality and SAP Authorization experience.
  • Good to have know-how of BPC (Business Planning and Consolidation) and OneSource (Tax Engine) Applications.
  • General experience with BI Reporting tools, Dashboards etc. 
  • Must have knowledge of FIORI Application and experience of interface 3rd party Systems.
  • Must be capable of writing Blueprints, Functional Specification Documents with detailed functional and technical logic.
  • Experience of ABAP related development including Reports, Transactions, CMOD, User Exits, BADI Enhancements, Query etc.
  • Leadership skills, results oriented and demonstrate a “can-do” attitude – adaptability, flexibility and resourcefulness.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, coaching and mentoring, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Construction industry experience is an asset.
  • SAP FICO certification is preferred.
  • Skilled and experienced user of MS Word, MS Excel, MS power point, MS project, MS Vision tools.
