HCM Functional Analyst

Position Overview

The position is responsible for supporting and improvising the SAP HCM and SF Functional modules within the Aecon SAP application. This position requires to work closely with SAP HCM and SF Functional analyst lead and follow lead’s guidance. The incumbent would be working as part of the Applications team and is expected to ensure business objectives are met through the operational health of the SAP HCM and SF modules, as well as to make contributions to projects and development changes which impact SAP HCM and SF.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support Functional analyst lead of HCM and SF for gathering, analyzing and prioritizing business requirements by conducting workshops in co-ordination with cross-function organizations
  • Work very closely with Functional analyst lead of HCM and SF and act as liaison with clients for troubleshooting: investigate, analyze, and solve software problems for SAP HCM and SF production incidents.
  • Perform detailed analysis of complex business process requirements and provide appropriate system solutions; identify, interpret, validate and document customer requirements
  • Manage application design and blueprint in SAP HCM and SF according to Aecon Business process and requirements.
  • Configuration of SAP HCM and SF functionality for any requirement/enhancement.
  • Work in collaboration with external SF consultant who is authorized to make certain changes within system.
  • Develops and maintains SAP HCM and SF functional documentation.
  • Document and executes Unit Testing and System Integration testing.
  • Coordinate with the QA Lead and QA Team to ensure appropriate QA testing.
  • Coordinate with other SAP Functional Analysts and Leads to ensure integration.
  • Collaborate with other internal IT organizations to ensure optimal work processes are followed and organization’s IT Strategy is delivered.
  •  Be the hands-on application expert during integration and user acceptance testing.
  • Provide or lead the end user training in the HCM and SF area.
  • Provide support and expertise after go-live of the initial rollout projects.
  • Ensure current-day SAP best-practices are followed.
  • Follow all practices of Aecon remedy tool and contribute for enhancement. Manage changes and/or expediated transports as needed for high priority issues.
  • Work closely and productively with application support/implementation vendor for day to day work or any other work.
  • Participate in Internal, Customer and Regulatory Audits if require
  • Strong multitasking skills with ability to manage multiple deliverables and projects at the same time

  • Support the information systems and operate according to internal standards, external accrediting agency standards and legal requirements.

  • This role will also be required to participate in the after-hours on-call support program. Other duties as assigned.


Required Knowledge and Experience

  • University Degree in Computer Science or related area from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 7+ years of SAP experience within ECC6.0 and SuccessFactors, good to have NetWeaver 7.4 ((ERP, PI, BW), BOBJ ,BODS and Solution Manager) experience
  • Strong configuration understanding of SAP HCM and SuccessFactors modules
  • Strong understanding of the configuration of SAP HCM (Canadian Payroll, Benefits, Time management as core skillset, Personal Administration and organizational management)  
  • Good understanding of Success factor (LMS, PM&GM, Employee Central, Recruitment Management, Onboarding, Succession planning)
  • Experience of integration of HCM and SF
  • SAP HCM certification is preferred
  • Basic understanding of SAP non HCM Modules including FICO/MM/SCM/PP/SD
  • Working knowledge of Data Modeling and Database Design practices
  • Experience working in SAP full implementation projects.
  • Experience to work with application support and implementation vendors
  • Experience of ABAP development including Reports, Transactions, CMOD, BADI Enhancements and Forms is an advantage
  • Experience in interfacing ECC 6.0 to other external system is crucial for this position
  • Experience of SAP Gateway and ODATA technology development is an advantage
  • Strong decision making, analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Construction industry experience is an asset
  • Skilled and experienced user of MS Word,  MS Excel, MS power point, MS project, MS Visio tools
