POSITION OVERVIEW


Aecon is well-positioned in the Canadian marketplace as an industry leader in the development and construction of infrastructure. We have a roster of ongoing major projects here and abroad, strong backlog diversified across multiple sectors and duration, and a robust pipeline of future project pursuits. We are in a strong market position, but we are ultimately aiming higher. 

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting (Corporate), this role involves assisting with the month end close process, annual and quarterly financial statement note preparation, as well as other reporting deliverables. 

 

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?


•    Assist with the month end close processes (preparation of journal entries, recurring entries and accruals)
•    Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
•    Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statement notes
•    Prepare and submit quarterly Statistics Canada surveys related to financial results
•    Assist with the interim and year-end external audit requirements 
•    Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting and variance analysis 
•    Involved in ensuring the Company complies with all areas of IFRS
•    Preparation of monthly management report deliverables
•    Participate in special projects/ad-hoc reporting as required
•    Liaise with business sector finance teams and other Corporate departments 
•    Identify and implement financial process improvements where possible
•    Adherence to internal controls and related policies and operating procedures
•    Maintain effective communication and relationships with management and staff of all levels

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WILL YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?


•    Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
•    Working towards an accounting designation is an asset
•    Ability to work within the time frame relating to financial reporting deadlines
•    Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of management within the organization
•    Strong written and oral communication skills
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Excel 
•    Strong analytical skills
•    Strong interpersonal skills
•    Process improvement driven
•    Innovative thinker
•    Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
•    Must be able to work closely in a team environment as well as individually
•    Strong organizational and time management skills
•    SAP/BPC experience is an asset
