Position Overview 

 

Under the direction of the General Manager the Engineering Manager - Pipelines will be responsible for all facets of managing the pipeline division and designing pipeline facilities for our existing and perspective Utility clients.
 
What You’ll Do Here:


Design Management 

 

  • Lead stamping engineer - front-end and detailed engineering design for pipeline projects ensuring compliance to industry standards – pipeline design and technical capabilities, alignment sheets and crossing details, Horizontal Directional Drill design, appurtenance detail drawings, stations, material selection, BOMs
  • Provide pipeline integrity assessments as required.
  • Oversee design and drafting activities and ensure consistent quality of work
  • Liaises with designers and field staff to problem solve.

 

Business Management 

 

  • Financial accountability - develop and manage project and divisional forecasts and budgets
  • Creating and implementing short and long-term business plans. 
  • Establish, manage key accounts and maintaining client relationships.
  • Develop industry contacts to drive new business, meet with clients to define project objectives, prepare proposals and finalize project contracts, while interacting with clients, vendors, contractors, and fabricators to resolve project issues.
  • Prepare Request for Proposal (RFP) packages, validating customer requirements to establish the project’s full scope, timelines, effort estimates, and assumptions
  • Manage multidiscipline projects, sub-contractors 

 

People Management

 

  • Supervises and delegates tasks among staff
  • Developing and tracking personal development plans for all direct reports and supporting them in doing so with their reports.
  • Leading, coaching, and mentoring direct reports to support high performance, employee development and succession planning, and supporting them in doing so with their reports.

 

Decision Making 

 

  • Work with the team to identify, quantify and mitigate project risk factors. Ensure action is initiated to reduce or eliminate risk wherever possible.
  • Obtain AUE Senior Management endorsement of key decisions with significant impact

 

What You Bring to the Team:

 

  • P. ENG - Registered with Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • Bachelor’s Degree - Engineering / Engineering Science  
  • Minimum ten years experience in Oil & Gas Industry
  • Strong technical and working knowledge of current industry codes and specifications: CSA Z662 and other pipeline codes 
  • Several years of experience in a supervisory role in the oil and gas industry
  • Involvement with the pipeline industry associations such as CSA, CGA & AGA is an asset.
  • Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills matched with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision 
  • Ability to travel for projects
