What is the Opportunity?
Aecon Civil East is at the forefront of delivering transformative infrastructure projects across Ontario, with a steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability. We are seeking an Environmental Director to lead our environmental management initiatives, ensuring that all projects comply with environmental regulations and uphold Aecon’s dedication to sustainable practices.
We are seeking a Quality Manager for one of our transformative subway extension/tunnelling projects in the GTA. The Quality Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of quality management systems and procedures.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Primary contact to the client for quality related matters and is responsible for overall project performance and integration during the design, construction and handover phases as it relates to quality matters
- Responsible for defining the organizational chart and reporting responsibilities including hiring staff and training to promote and ensure cross-disciplinary collaboration as it relates to quality matters
- Ensure the project team is aware of project requirements and goals and follow the procedures and processes in place to meet those requirements and goals
- Monitoring the project and controlling changes to all aspects of the project
- Develop, implement, maintain and ensure the effective operation of the QMS including coordination with all activities to demonstrate continued conformance to the PA
- Initiating management reviews and taking other actions necessary to ensure the effective operation and continuous improvement of the QMS
- Preparing Quality Audit Plans and subsequent implementation via implementation of Internal Quality Audits and External Quality Audits inclusive of preparing and submitting the findings in Audit Reports
- Preparing and submitting the monthly Quality Management System reports
- Ensuring that relevant Quality Records are retained in accordance with the Quality Management System
- Planning, establishing, documenting, and maintaining the QMP
- Developing and implementing a program for Disposition and Corrective Action for Non‑Conformances including approving the action taken to close non-conformances. Further including the appropriate metrics to document the status of this program
- Carrying out any other matters which, in accordance with the Contract with the client, are the responsibility of the Quality Manager
- Manage a team of Quality Coordinators for preparation, review and implementation Inspection and Test Plans including ensuring that materials comply with the PA requirements
- Being an advocate for the QMS program in Aecon’s team meetings in addition to providing support and advice to the operation managers in resolving organizational and programmatic issues
- Coordinating the efforts towards consistency in how the QMS program functions during the design/construction phase of the project, within the quality team
- Monitoring the processes in place through the Management Review Process, to verify they are being followed by project delivery staff, such that the completed Works fulfill all required quality critical requirements as defined in the PA
- Liaise with the HSE manager to ensure that the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for products being used are available and up to date
- Verification of procurement documents procured items and services for construction and installation work
- To provide assistance to Project Management related to matters involving Project Quality Objectives
What You Bring to the Team:
- Certified Engineering Technologist registered in the Province of Ontario or equivalent education and training
- Minimum 10 years’ experience working in infrastructure construction
- 5+ years experience working as a QC Manager preferred
- Must be certified as an internal or lead auditor to ISO 9001:2015
- Previous experience in Canadian and International Standards
- Bridge, roads and highways construction experience preferred
- A valid Driver’s License
- Knowledge of Total Quality Management and methodologies
- Energetic, detail-oriented and able to prioritize and manage a multi-task workload
- Strong aptitude for quality assurance
- Excellent ability to clearly explain advanced technical issues in a manner that is easily understood
- Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
- Ability to work well both independently and on teams
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office suite
