Aecon’s Major Projects East division is hiring a Quality Control Manager for a project assignment.  The QC Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of quality management systems and procedures.

 

What You’ll Do Here:    

    To support Project Site Team on all matters pertaining to quality

    Coordinate activities of the Quality Team

    Planning, establishing, documenting, and maintaining the QMP

    Directing the performance of internal and external quality audits including audits and assessments conducted on suppliers

    Verification of procurement documents procured items and services for construction and installation work

    Indoctrination and training of quality personnel

    Maintaining qualification records of QA & QC personnel on file

    Assist with the selection and assignment of Project Quality Personnel to ensure they are trained, qualified, competent, and where required certified to perform the assigned functions

    To ensure quality personnel have reviewed contract details pertaining to technical and quality requirements

    Evaluating and selecting suppliers and subcontractors

    Reviewing and accepting of customer free issue items and supporting documentation

    Provide assistance to Project Management related to matters involving Project Quality

    The quality manager shall have defined authority for ensuring the establishment and maintenance of the Quality Management System and auditing and reporting on the status of, and compliance with the Quality Management System

    Be independent of the Design-Builder’s Site/production management team and have full access to all quality documentation described in the Quality Management System held with Design-Builder Parties

    Developing, implementing and maintaining, and ensuring the effective operation of, the Quality Management System

    Initiating management reviews, not less frequently than annually, and taking other actions necessary to ensure the effective operation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System

    Preparing Quality Audit Plans and scheduling and coordinating Internal Quality Audits and External Quality Audits of key processes with the relevant Design-Builder Parties

    Ensuring that all Quality Audits required under the Quality Documentation are conducted, and reporting the findings of such audits to the client

    Authority to immediately stop any work or activity which is not being performed or carried out in accordance with the Quality Documentation applicable

    Liaising with client and acting as the primary representative for the Design-Builder on all matters relating to quality management

    Coordinating all activities that demonstrate to Design-Builder and client that the Quality Management System meets the requirements

    Preparing and submitting monthly Quality Management System reports

    Ensuring that relevant Quality Records are retained in accordance with the Quality Management System and the requirements

    Developing and implementing a program for Disposition and Corrective Action for Non-Conformances

    Approve and sign off on the action taken for closure of Non-Conformance Reports

 

 What You Bring to the Team:  

⦁    Certified Engineering Technologist registered in the Province of Ontario or equivalent education and training

⦁    Minimum 15 years’ experience working in infrastructure construction

⦁    7+ years’ experience working as a QC Manager preferred

⦁    Must be certified as an internal or lead auditor to ISO 9001:2015

⦁    Previous experience in Canadian and International Standards

⦁    Bridge, roads, transit and highways construction experience preferred

⦁    A valid Driver’s License

⦁    Knowledge of Total Quality Management and methodologies

    Be a certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor or have experience in a similar quality management role for a transit project

    Energetic, detail-oriented and able to prioritize and manage a multi-task workload
⦁    Strong aptitude for quality assurance
⦁    Excellent ability to clearly explain advanced technical issues in manner that is easily understood
⦁    Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work
⦁    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
⦁    Ability to work well both independently and on teams
⦁    Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office suite
