What is the Opportunity?
The Senior Manager, Operational Applications leads the delivery, support, governance, and continuous improvement of Aecon's operational business applications. The role leads application delivery and support teams, oversees the assigned application portfolio, and partners with business stakeholders to ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, secure, and aligned to measurable business outcomes.
The incumbent is accountable for application service performance, product lifecycle management, business engagement, and operational excellence, while executing technology roadmaps aligned with the Enterprise Solutions strategy and the Aecon Technology Roadmap.
What You’ll Do Here:
Application Portfolio Management
- Manage the operational application portfolio, including software supporting construction and project controls, fabrication, geospatial and digital engineering, utilities, safety, and quality.
- Execute application roadmaps aligned with enterprise modernization, operational priorities, and organizational goals.
- Oversee the full application lifecycle, including upgrades, enhancements, maintenance, integration, and retirement planning.
- Drive continuous improvement, standardization, and optimization across operational business applications.
- Ensure applications operate securely, reliably, and in accordance with corporate, architectural, audit, and operational standards.
Delivery & Support Leadership
- Lead teams responsible for application delivery, support, enhancement, administration, and operational maintenance.
- Ensure effective service management practices across incidents, problems, change, release, and knowledge management.
- Coordinate resources and delivery priorities across operational support, enhancement requests, and project activities.
- Ensure service levels, availability targets, and operational performance objectives are achieved.
- Partner with project and program teams to transition new solutions into sustainable operational support models.
- Verify solution outcomes through appropriate operational reviews, controls, and audits.
Operational Business Solutions
- Serve as the primary technology partner for operational application Business Owners and users.
- Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, productivity gains, and operational efficiency.
- Support the adoption of digital, geospatial, automation, analytics, and AI-enabled capabilities that improve business performance and end-user experience.
- Translate business requirements into prioritized delivery plans, solution improvements, and application enhancements.
- Facilitate internal and external discussions to optimize the use and integration of data, technology, and digital capabilities.
Business Relationship Management
- Build trusted relationships with operational business leaders and key stakeholders.
- Facilitate demand intake, prioritization, and roadmap planning for assigned application portfolios.
- Function as the voice of the business within Enterprise Solutions and advocate operational priorities.
- Monitor solution adoption, business satisfaction, service performance, and value realization.
Governance & Operational Excellence
- Ensure compliance with application governance, security, audit, architecture, data, and operational standards.
- Collaborate with Architecture, Security, Data, Infrastructure, and Delivery teams to align business solutions with enterprise standards.
- Support application ownership, data stewardship, information security, business continuity, and operational governance processes.
- Promote disciplined decision-making, risk management, and evidence-based problem solving across the portfolio.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop Application Leads, Product Leads, Functional Analysts, and other technical resources supporting the portfolio.
- Foster a culture of accountability, customer service, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Build organizational capability in application management, service delivery, product ownership, project delivery, and business engagement.
- Coach team members, support professional development, and sustain employee engagement across co-located and remote teams.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Information Technology, Business Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8 to 10 years of progressive experience in enterprise applications, business systems, or technology delivery leadership.
- 3 to 5 years of people leadership experience, including leading co-located and remote teams.
- Experience leading application support and delivery teams for business-critical solutions.
- Experience working with operational business functions in construction, industrial, fabrication, engineering, utilities, infrastructure, or related environments.
- Experience managing application portfolios, roadmaps, lifecycle activities, service performance, and operational risk.
- Strong understanding of application integration, service management, digital transformation, operational technology, data, and enterprise applications.
- Experience working with Ineight Project Suite, P6 Primavera, ArcGIS (ESRI), or other industry specific applications assets.
- Demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts and recommendations clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate cross-functionally and across management levels and to influence without direct authority.

The expected salary range for this role is $130,000-$140,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may includecertifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
