Position Overview

Aecon is well-positioned in the Canadian marketplace as an industry leader in the development and construction of infrastructure. We have a roster of ongoing major projects here and abroad, record backlog diversified across multiple sectors and duration, and a robust pipeline of future project pursuits. We are in a strong market position, but we are ultimately aiming higher. 


Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Corporate Communications & Marketing, the Marketing Manager is the team’s dedicated lead for developing compelling marketing content and strategies in support of Aecon’s corporate and business development objectives in regional, national, and international markets. In this role, you will be working as a vital member of the Corporate Communications & Marketing Team in collaboration with Business Development Leads from Aecon’s multiple and diverse operating sectors, ensuring a consistent brand strategy and clearly defined “Aecon Advantage” marketing assets to support internal and external efforts. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop strategic relationships with Aecon business development leads across the company and work closely with each group to understand their respective businesses/industry sectors.
  • Determine the competitive market advantage(s) for each group and collaborate on the development of marketing and communications strategies to support brand awareness and revenue generation efforts in each respective sector. 
  • Develop and drive compelling marketing strategies and content to support overall business objectives, including client presentations, proposals, digital assets, script development, website content, etc., leveraging multiple communications channels and tactics.
  • Manage Digital Communications Specialist team member and provide oversight and management of Aecon’s digital and photo libraries and external vendor relationships.
  • Lead digital brand content development efforts – from ideation to implementation – in collaboration with internal clients and Corp Comms/Corp Affairs teams.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis and planning to support marketing and brand awareness strategies.


Required Knowledge and Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, business, or closely related field. 
  • Minimum 5-7 years of marketing experience, including at least 3 years’ marketing management experience.
  • Highly collaborative team leadership style with the ability to respond quickly and effectively to ever-changing situations toward best-in-class services for our internal/external clients.
  • Broad functional experience in evolving business operations information into compelling marketing digital and print marketing content.
  • Experience creating influential brand awareness and communications programs and successfully collaborating with business operations to implement.
  • Exceptional written/oral communications skills and storytelling lens; ability to take complex ideas and transition into clear, compelling content and meaningful messaging.
  • Strong business acumen, skills, and maturity; ability to work effectively with others even under stressful deadlines situations.
  • Highly developed organizational and time management skills; ability to successfully plan and execute multiple priorities with tight deadlines and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to think critically and draw from several resources (and interact with all levels of staff) to create unified and persuasive marketing collateral materials.
  • Experience and maturity in dealing with sensitive matters and strong business acumen to enable tactful problem-solving and collaborative-driven solutions. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint. Demonstrated experience with Adobe graphics programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design) and web/digital platforms.
