Project Coordinator, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD)

Reporting to the GM, Hydrovac & Drills, the Project Coordinator, Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) will be responsible for assisting the GM, Hydrovac & Drills in the provisioning of Horizontal Directional drilling activities to our construction projects, including coordination of scheduling, labour resourcing, tooling, PPE, repairs, training, sub-contractor deployment, operational administration, reporting, data management, fleet optimization, etc.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Supports the development and maintenance of optimal rig scheduling / crew assignment.
  • Assists in the coordination of equipment maintenance, repairs, safety certifications.
  • Coordinates provisioning of inventory, tooling, consumables, and PPE and associated budgeting.
  • Assists in timesheet validation / input.
  • Monitors and maintains accurate daily equipment reporting and utilization.
  • Assists in accuracy of associated daily fleet / staff cost allocations.
  • Coordinates technical support to crews to resolve issues.
  • Coordinates the administration of Subcontractor prequalification’s and Subcontractor agreements.
  • Assists in administrative due diligence as appropriate for Subcontractors.
  • Supports and drives adherence to Preferred Vendors / Preferred Supplier protocols.
  • Supports and drives adherence to proper and complete procurement process protocols. (PO’s, Invoicing, Packing Slips, Goods Receipt, Blocked Invoices, Material Master)
  • Assists in staff on-boarding, and annual orientation, and training.
  • Assists in monitoring and actioning opportunities for improvement in the areas of speeding, driving exceptions, idling and bulk fuel use.
  • Assists in monitoring and actioning opportunities for improvement in the areas of pre-planning, locates, daylighting, productivity, site delays and downtime.
  • Supports the coordination of sucker truck use where appropriate.
  • Assists in incident investigation and reporting activities, and the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assist crews in the implementation of IT solutions and associated hardware.
  • Assists in collecting and actioning innovation and process improvement ideas from the crews.
  • Assists in the maintenance of all applicable training and certification records in SuccessFactors.
  • Assists in field safety inspections of HDD crews.

 

Required Knowledge and Experience 

  • Post-secondary education – Diploma / Degree
  • Past HDD Operator / locator experience an asset
  • Experience in the utility construction industry an asset
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet work demands
  • Valid driver’s license
