As a Project Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing support to construction projects and assisting the project management team with the coordination of schedules, manpower, contract administration, progress tracking & reporting, engineering, etc.  The Project Coordinator, PMO reports to Project Controls Manager and/or Project Manager responsible for the project.  Following the Project Manager’s review of the project estimate, budget, commercial and the technical data, the Project Coordinator directs, coordinates and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of technical and construction requirements within the scope of a specified project.


What You'll Do Here:  

  • Provides support for Project Management for bids/proposals and execution of construction projects.
  • Supports in the planning and implementation of a project’s construction program, including understanding the project plan, activities, milestones, and manpower requirements.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of the project schedule, manpower allocations, and budgets.
  • Monitors / controls expenditures within limitations of project budget
  • Coordinates fabrication activities as required – piping, structural steel, etc.
  • Maintains progress and productivity tracking and data entry as required/applicable.
  • Provides status report of project milestones and adjustment to schedules.
  • Prepares progress reports and data as required by customer, Project Team and Senior Management.
  • Provides technical support to construction team to resolve issues.
  • Reviews project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities relating to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Evaluates and recommends design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, as built drawings, turnover documents, etc.
  • Support contract administration including change management and providing miscellaneous field estimates as needed.
  • Coordinates all aspects of Supply Chain Management (SCM) processes in SAP (requisitions, purchase or service orders, goods/services receiving, invoicing & payment, etc.).
  • Prepares purchase specifications as needed.
  • Supports preparation of subcontract documents (terms, scope, etc.) and bid packages as required for assigned projects.
  • Support Safety Program and performance on assigned projects.
  • Support Quality Assurance (QA) program, reporting and deliverables for assigned projects.
  • Provide support, coordination and oversight of commissioning as required for assigned projects.
  • Collect and provide construction input to design development for assigned Design-Build (or EPC) projects.
  • Direct and guide project design efforts as applicable for assigned DB/EPC projects.
  • Provides estimating and project management back-up capacity as required.
  • Performs such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her Supervisor/Manager.
  • Develop and write reports, business correspondence.
  • Available to travel to and/or locate at project assignments across Ontario and beyond as required.
  • When on a construction site, may be subject to extreme noise and heat.  May be expected to climb ladders or wear fall protection depending on job location.

What You Will Bring to the Team: 

  • Graduate from the Mechanical/ Civil Engineering/ Technologist / Construction Management programs.
  • Post-secondary school education in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent construction experience).
  • Pursuing Professional Engineering Status / OACETT Certification.
  • Minimum 1 - 3 years’ experience in a construction or EPC environment.
  • Experience in the utility construction industry an asset.
  • Project scheduling and planning experience an asset.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license.
