Position Overview
We are looking for a Security Director who will manage, direct and monitor the provision of security for which the Project Company “Project Co” is responsible and will be the main point of contact for all communications with the Contracting Authority, Security Managers, law enforcement and emergency response agencies, on security matters related to the Go Transit System and on the Network.


This is a senior role for an experienced transportation security professional, based in Toronto.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of all aspects of security management for the Project Company, including:
  • Planning and Execution of Threat and Vulnerability Assessments for the operation
  • Data Technology and Software and Schedule
  • Initial Works Output Specifications, including preparation and development of a Security Plan to cover all Project Co and project Co parties’ activities.
  • Risk Assessments in relation to security and mitigation of identified risks, including through Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design
  • Development and Oversight of the General Security Awareness Program for the project
  • Overall responsibility for the Security Plan, it’s initial development, approval process with the Contracting Authority and ongoing maintenance and audit.
  • Represent Project Co at various safety and security committees as required by the Contracting Authority
  • Develop recommendations for crisis management resources and procedures necessary to integrate Project Co partners to the local crisis management plans.
  • Conduct incident investigations in accordance with Project Co policies and local regulations
  • Ensure projects are in full compliance with security regulations and that a secure workplace is provided for all employees.
  • Responsible for identifying, analyzing and developing improvements in security, quality, productivity, internal relationships, stakeholders and customer liaison/service
  • Create an engaged security culture while delivering measurable results.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Certified Protection Professional certified by ASIS International, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience in the field of rail security, including 3-5 years of direct experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Prior experience of the rail industry in Ontario would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience and exposure in the public security arena dealing with security and risk related issues associated with public infrastructure and issues affecting the public.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of an organization (including executive management, governance committees and oversight groups) on the status of security and issues surrounding risk management decisions.
  • Understand, interpret, analyze and develop consensus within an organizational climate of diverse operational activities and with multiple agencies with regulatory jurisdiction.
  • Building effective teams, collaboration, and promoting a teamwork culture
  • Experience with interaction with and reporting to rail regulatory agencies regarding incidents, emergencies, permitting, approvals and compliance issues, as well as the maintenance of these permits and approvals
