Aecon IDD department has an immediate need in the Toronto office for a Sr IDD CDE Coordinator, who will be responsible for implementing and improving the CDE, modelling strategies, carrying out structured model quality and information audits, providing management and support functionality to ensure project data requirements are met while undertaking digital scope and system deployments that are fit-for-purpose. . This position will report to the IDD Manager, GIS & CDE and will work closely with all IDD staff and Aecon colleagues.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Immerse in Engineering Production Systems
- Design model and drawing authoring, co-ordination and production processes and systems
- GIS, CDM, 4D, 5D awareness and exposure
- Assessing federated model data quality etc.
- Project CDE, document management systems and dashboarding
- Project control systems
- Information management systems and processes (data integration, warehousing, and handover)
- Internal/third party systems
- Site travel will be required 20% of the time within Ontario (mostly GTA)
- Evaluate and assess site conditions prior to construction
- Develop phased site development 2-D and 3-D drawings for construction
- Creating and maintain corridors/sections/profiles for rail and road design alignments
- Quantity take offs using cut/fill tracking, xml surface extractions
- Supporting the IDD Director/ IDD Manager or project BIM lead to ensure the correct activities are assigned to the consultant supply chains Information Managers
- Providing Coordination reports of the interfaces between engineering disciplines / design and construction / temporary and permanent works design activities, through the IDD process
- Coordination and development of the design to Construction through IDD processes such as 5D/ 4D to ensure consideration and optimization of the opportunities for sustainability, digital engineering, buildability, carbon, logistics, industrialisation designing for maintenance and health, safety and welfare during construction and in-use
- Run IDD tools training workshops to enable people to deliver their responsibilities in relation to Aecon IDD Strategy
- Project Specific Accountabilities
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Construction Managers to develop a project specific process for utilizing or creating 3D information for estimating, logistics, planning, scheduling, coordination, field layout and/or facilitates management
- Coordinate with field superintendents and construction managers, design engineers, and others to meet constructability requirements
- Create project specific protocols regarding communication and data exchange, nomenclature, format, 3D workspace orientation to ensure interoperability as required
- Facilitate consultant and trades through multiple project phases with Digital logistic construction management process
What You Bring to the Team:
- Interfacing with IDD managers and Senior IDD coordinators to implement BIM methodologies and best practice from strategy through to delivery
- Implementing and enforcing common standards and work practices based on ISO 19650 and key client data requirements
- Assisting document control personnel regarding information flow and governance, overseeing ACC transactional flows between Sharepoint sites
- Active representation on working groups and initiatives to support organisational digital transformation programmes
- Demonstrable and successful relevant experience within the highways infrastructure or associated AEC sectors (in a relevant role with strong project execution experience)
- Candidate should be qualified to degree level or above in an Engineering or Data Science related subject
- Broad working knowledge of systems related to the design, construction, and operation of capital projects, including engineering design systems, data and document management systems and project controls
- A proven working knowledge of 3D model authoring software (e.g. Civil 3D & Dynamo), 3D model interrogation and clash detection software (e.g. NavisWorks), Common Data Environments (e.g. B360, ACC), business intelligence software (e.g. Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate, Workato), industry applicable programming languages, and requirement management systems
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
