What is the Opportunity?
The Power Platform and Custom Applications Team Lead to provide technical leadership and solution oversight for our recently live Accounts Payable (AP) Automation platform and related custom application modernization initiatives. This requires a strong conceptual and architectural understanding of the Power Platform, Azure, AI-enabled solutions, and modern cloud application stacks to provide technical leadership, guide solution decisions, participate in design discussions, and lead a diverse development team.
The successful candidate will also lead developers across multiple technologies (.NET, Azure, PHP, RPA, custom applications), ensure alignment with our modernization strategy, and act as a key technical partner in ongoing enhancements, support, and future roadmap execution.
What You'll Do Here:
Technical Leadership & Solution Oversight
- Design, Develop and Provide technical leadership for the AP Automation solution built on Microsoft Power Platform, Azure services, and AI-enabled components.
- Act as a solution authority during design discussions, technical reviews, and enhancement planning.
- Understand and articulate end-to-end solution architecture, integrations, data flows, security models, and DevOps processes.
- Participate in technical decision-making, architecture reviews, and cross-team design forums.
- Ensure solutions align with the organization’s modernization roadmap, including cloud adoption across Azure and AWS platforms.
Power Platform & AI Focus
- Lead and guide teams working on:

- Power Apps (Model-driven and Canvas apps)
- Power Automate (cloud and desktop flows)
- Dataverse
- Power Platform governance, security, and ALM

- Provide oversight and guidance on AI-enabled solutions, including:
-
- Azure AI / Cognitive Services
- AI Builder
- Model-driven and AI-assisted business processes

- Ensure scalability, maintainability, and security best practices are followed.
Power Platform Security & Governance
- Strong understanding of Power Platform security and governance, including:
-
- Dataverse security roles
- Environment segregation (DEV / TEST / PROD)
- DLP (Data Loss Prevention) policies
- Connector governance and risk controls

- Ability to ensure Power Platform implementations align with enterprise security and compliance standards, especially in finance-related solutions such as AP Automation.
- Strong understanding of enterprise security principles when designing, reviewing, or overseeing integrations between the Power Platform, SAP, and other enterprise or cloud systems.
DevOps & Engineering Practices
- Champion DevOps best practices across the team, including:

- CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or equivalent)
- Code versioning and release management
- Environment strategy (Dev / Test / Prod)
- Monitoring, logging, and error handling

- Work closely with DevOps, QA, and platform teams to ensure stable, secure deployments.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead and mentor a team of developers with mixed skill sets, even when not very hands-on these areas: .NET , C#, Azure functions, PHP, RPA , custom application development
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and career development support.
- Support workload planning, task prioritization, and technical alignment across projects.
- Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and cross-skill understanding within the team.
Cross‑Technology & Modernization Exposure
- Develop and maintain a strong conceptual understanding of:

- Integration patterns (API-based, event-driven, RPA-assisted)
- Cloud-native application design principles

- AWS-hosted solutions

- Be able to explain technology choices, trade-offs, and impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What You Bring to the Team:
Core Technical Skills
- Strong experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including:
- Power Apps (especially Model-driven apps)
- Power Automate
- Dataverse
- Solid understanding of Azure services, particularly:
- App Services
- Azure Functions
- Azure Logic Apps
- Azure AI / Cognitive Services
- Experience with AI-enabled or model-driven applications.
- Strong understanding of enterprise integration concepts and automation platforms.
- Working knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and release governance.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Proven experience as a Technical Lead or Team Lead.
- Experience managing or leading developers across diverse technology stacks.
- Strong communication skills - able to translate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Comfortable participating in technical discussions, stakeholder meetings, and design reviews.
- Operate effectively within Aecon IS standards and enterprise delivery practices, ensuring technology solutions are secure, compliant, and production-ready.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 8+ years of overall experience in software development, enterprise applications, or solution delivery. 5+ years of hands-on experience specializing in Microsoft Power Platform solutions, including : Power Apps (Model-driven and Canvas) , Power Automate, Dataverse, Power Platform ALM and governance
