Purpose of the Position
Reporting to the Team Lead, the Cad Technician will be responsible for providing pipeline layout information to all aspects of the construction project with a high level of accuracy, ensuring the design criteria is adhered to and well documented.
Key Responsibilities
- Completion of design drawings, quantity calculations and as-built drawings for projects within various work types using various software packages (e.g. AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Civil 3D)
- Ability to interpret field survey data, coordinate and communicate with field survey crews
- Provide calculations and assist with day to day work flows to field staff
- Prepare 3D models for use in AutoCAD ACC common data environment.
- Maintain accurate survey and drawing records, documentation and submittals, and ability to follow BIM Management procedures.
- Project coordination duties including; status updates, and coordination with external stakeholders.
- Interpret and adhere to legislative, project and code requirements and client’s specifications (e.g. Ontario Standard Drawings)
- Conduct QC verification on drawings / designs
Required Knowledge and Experience
- 3 to 5 years of AutoCAD drafting experience
- Post-secondary education in Civil / Mechanical Engineering, Geomatics or design field, Architectural or equivalent experience
- CET certified or CET eligible is an asset
- Ability to create 3D Models using CAD software.
- Experience with ACC
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD software and experience customizing AutoCAD, scripts, tools and Menu’s
- Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
- Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities and work cooperatively in a team environment
- Experience working with government bodies and familiar with legislative requirements (e.g. Ministry of Transportation, city permit applications)
- Strong attention to detail
- Collaborating with Designers to ensure accuracy of drawings.
- Working with permit drawings and city websites to understand the full scope of the drawing.
- Liaises with designers and field staff to problem solve.
- Tracking project hours and strategically staying within designated hours.
- Performs other duties as required.
