Position Title:  Track Specialist

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Systems Integration, the Track Specialist will be responsible for reviewing and particiapting in the track design for Aecon's rail projects. The sucessful candidate will have considerable experience in track construction and maintenance. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Participate in the development of track design and execution planning while focusing on safety and balancing operational flexibility, reliability and maintenance obligations.
  • Review & Participate in;
  • Project Agreement output specifications (PSOS) 
  • Track alignments & profiles.
  • Trackplan-schematics.
  • Functional and combined services cross sections.
  • Depot and maintenance facility general layouts, cross sections and details.
  • Turnout and special trackwork layout drawings.
  • Dynamic and static envelope clearance against guideway equipment and infrastructure.
  • Provide SME guidance on commercial impacts and risk mitigation
  • Prepare material and installation tender scope documents according to specifications.
  • Assist estimators in cost evaluations and compliance.
  • Review inspection & test plans.
  • Perform site visits for design validation.
  • Provide technical support to projects in both the pursuit and execution phases.
  • Provide construction support services such:  RFIs, Non-conformance reports, vendor document reviews (Shop drawings, Test Reports, Certificates), etc.


Required Knowledge and Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in track construction / maintenance.
  • A Bachelor’s degree Engineering preferred.
  • Previous experience in multinational P3 project environments an asset.
  • Familiarity with signalling systems, traction power, overhead catenary systems an asset.
  • Solid project management, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to recommend practical problem solving using innovation, good judgment, creativity and strategic thinking.
