About Us
The Steam Generator Replacement Team (SGRT) project is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon and Framatome, located in Kincardine, Ontario. SGRT is a part of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) project and includes the removal of the steam generators and the installation of replacement steam generators with related plant modifications. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program, which will allow Bruce Power’s CANDU units to continue to operate safely through to 2064. In addition to the existing contracts for Unit 3 and Unit 4, SGRT has been awarded contracts for Unit 5, 7, and 8 for steam generator replacements as part of the Bruce Major Component Replacement project.
The Welding General Foreperson will report to the Welding Manager and follow the general direction of the Superintendent. The Welding General Foreperson will assist in the supervision, coordination, and scheduling of construction activities for their dedicated welding scope. The Welding General Foreperson be responsible for the implementation and oversight of the welding program and supervision of the Welding Supervisors.
What You'll Do Here
- Maintain excellent relationships with clients, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and public.
- Responsible for ensuring that all work is conducted in a safe manner in compliance with safety, quality and human performance policies
- Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look ahead schedules for forecasting and planning
- Assist in developing recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.
- Plan and approve the work of own forces and subcontractors on the project including determining methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals and work schedules
- Assume responsibility for the efficient use of materials and equipment and contractual performance of the project
- Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements
- Welding scope readiness ensuring equipment, consumables and assigned weld crew(s) are qualified to perform the scope of work
- Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, Construction Work Packages (CWPs), Construction Inspection & Test Plans (CITPs) and project schedule and budget
- Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc. as required
- Ensure the work is carried out in accordance with QA Programs and project quality guidelines.
- Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety records, daily progress reports, training records, T&E and rental records, manpower reports, owner support requests, CWP documents, etc.
- Participate in basic layout, preparation of work instructions, field engineering activities, etc.
- Oversee and directly support work during execution phase, including monitoring for performance, provision of guidance to the field team, reporting to line management, leading problem-solving efforts and development of adverse condition recovery plans
- Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications/codes and CITP’s.
- Identify and support CITP and/or DCN revisions as necessary to support field work
- Ensure the work is carried out in accordance with QA Programs and project quality guidelines
- Manage and maintain OPEX in the project database for future use
- Attend and participate in the Plan of the Day and other meetings as required
- Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Coordinate Foreperson and execution crew in the execution of their assigned dutie
- Coordinate across all functions of the project as required to achieve task(s) goals
- Provide leadership to Field supervisors, Coordinators and respective Craft Labor
What You Bring To The Team
- Minimum 5-10 years construction supervision experience
- Minimum 4 years experience with ASME welding
- Must possess Welding Certification of Qualification or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
- Ability to successfully coordinate a construction project
- Knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements
- Good communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to learn and operate Weld tracking database(s)
- Basic presentation skills
- Basic blueprint understanding
- Nuclear experience including vault work is an asset
