Erosion & Sediment Control (ESC) Lead

Position Overview
SA Energy Group is a General Partnership between Robert B. Somerville and Aecon Utilities, a division of Aecon Construction Group. SA Energy Group provides mainline pipeline construction services to the Canadian Oil and Gas industry. We have a strong project backlog and our successes are well documented having constructed over 1000 km of large diameter pipeline over the past 7 years.
 

Under the supervision of the Environmental Manager, the ESC Lead will be responsible for the evaluation of site-specific erosion and sediment control concerns encountered during construction of the project.
 

This is a temporary full-time position.  The work schedule will be 6 days on (Monday – Saturday) and 1 day off (Sunday), 10-12 hours per day.  The employment term shall be dependent on the duration of the current project and future project workload.


The position will be based out of SA Energy Group’s Project Offices in camp northeast of Prince George, BC.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the project footprint for ESC concerns.
  • Develop and implement project-specific ESC management plan.
  • Complete site-specific ESC plans for high-risk areas.
  • Provide training and mentoring to the Project Team on ESC theory and implementation.
  • Assist the Project Team with field installation of ESC devices.
  • Monitor and assess effectiveness of ESC plans and devices and adjust as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with SA Energy Group’s Project Team to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and methodologies by staying current with industry groups to improve ESC performance, reliability and to meet current and future regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

 

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • 10+ years of experience on construction projects in BC, pipeline experience or power transmission corridor experience preferred. 
  • Field experience on projects in northern BC an asset.
  • Relevant bachelor’s degree with professional accreditation (CPESC) required. Consideration will be made for those already possessing BC CESCL designation.
  • Strong organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Must possess and demonstrate excellent computer skills; highly proficient in Microsoft Office software i.e.; Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Desire to take ownership of tasks assigned and willingness to learn.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and team leader.
  • Must possess a Valid Driver’s license.
  • Pipeline construction experience is preferred.
  • Managing crews responsible for implementation, install, and evaluation of ESC plans and devices.
