Position Overview
Under the direction of the Senior Finance Manager, the Finance Manager will be responsible for supporting Major Projects West projects. This position is located downtown Vancouver, BC.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversight of finance activities within a business unit or functional area, this could include financial reporting, budgeting, taxation
- Assist with and coordinate the month end close processes (review of journal entries, elimination entries, recurring entries and accruals).
- Develop annual budgets and quarterly forecasts with the respective business partners
- Review monthly/quarterly deliverables from internal projects or business units.
- Preparation of various monthly management report deliverables.
- Implement & manage internal control procedures
- Coordinate & manage internal and external audits
- Investigate/analyze variances from budgets/forecast on a monthly/quarterly basis – working closely with business partners
- Involved in supporting accounting research to provide recommendations, ensuring the Company complies with all areas of IFRS and in accordance with established Aecon policies and procedures
- Enhance the applicable finance processes and support process improvement initiatives to achieve financial goals and improve efficiency and profitability
- Mentor and develop finance team
- Build a strong network across various teams to handle a wide range of analytical and operational issues
- Support preparation of ad-hoc financial analyses (including “what-if” scenario analysis) as required to support business partners
- Assist with new project setup.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- 5 years of professional finance experience, preferably in the Construction industry
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- Degree in Accounting or Business Management required
- Canadian accounting designation – CPA required
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and percentage of completion accounting
- Demonstrated ability to perform in a leadership capacity
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment within a small team
- Experience with SAP and Business Objects is valued.
The expected pay range for this position is $95,000-$110,000.
