What Is The Opportunity?

Under the direction of the Team Lead, the Sr OSP Designer will be responsible for all facets of desiging for out existing and perspective Utility Telecommunication clients.


What You'll Do Here: 

  • Engineering aerial, underground & inside copper and/or fiber routes and road moves.
  • Design fibre routes and lay-out count including size and counts of cable including: terminals, cross box, loop make-ups, rearrangement, bridge tap removal, circuit types & pair conditioning.
  • Design fiber routes and lay-out counts including: FTTH, FTTP, FTTC & Ethernet.
  • Research and define local jurisdictional regulations, coordinate permit application process and ensure that design conforms to specifications.
  • Mentor junior design technicians
  • Work within defined QA/QC review process to ensure accuracy with final drawings.
  • Oversee projects from the beginning design phase until completion.
  • Act as the point of contact for all home owners (on behalf of the client), project team members and civil and/or splicing teams.
  • Coordinating between CAD Techs, project team members, and external partners.
  • Conducting field surveys (aerial and underground) 
  • Attend customer meetings and perform site surveys or walk-outs as necessary to comply with customer requirements.
  • Additional duties as required.


What You Bring to the Team: 

  • 5+ years of design experience.
  • Proficient in CAD and software applications used to create engineering designs.
  • Understanding of customer database systems (i.e. Spatial Net)
  • Survey or CAD experience is an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering or equivalent is an asset.
  • Proficient with the use of computers and software, including MS Office (Word, Visio, Excel).
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills and adapt.
  • Liaise with customers and clients to resolve any challenges.
