Aecon is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector and Quality Control Inspectors to join the iconic Gordie Howe - Bridging North America Project based out of Windsor, Ontario. Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the QC and QA Inspectors shall be responsible for the inspecting and testing activities for the construction of specific infrastructure on the project.


Key Responsibilities

QA Inspectors are fully conversant with applicable Industry standards, specifications, and fabrication processes to be inspected. Site QA inspectors will report to their respective Component QA Managers.
Main responsibilities include:

  • Perform the Inspections and Tests in accordance with the approved ITPs and produce the pertaining quality records, checklists…
  • Verify that test equipment is properly calibrated and maintained as required by this CQMP;
  • Review the test reports.  
  • Review the Test Packages and relevant Documentation prior to conducting the tests.  
  • Initiate/issuance of Internal Non-Compliance Report once a non-conformity situation has been detected. 
  • Report to the Component Quality Assurance Managers.
  • Prepare and maintain quality records pertaining to their assigned portion of work.


QC Inspectors report for Quality purposes to their respective Component QC Manager and they will have the authority and responsibility to:

  • Carry out quality control activities identified in this CQMP and ITPs;
  • Evaluate and document the quality of Construction Work performed by BNAC Canada, Suppliers and/or Subcontractors, including conformance with PA requirements, and RFC drawings and specifications, fulfilling all the QC assigned activities in the related Inspection and Test Plan;
  • Verify that any equipment that requires so, is fit for purpose, is properly calibrated and maintained as required;
  • Identify and report non-compliant Construction Work and supplied product when discovered, and review/ monitor disposition of Non-Compliances;
  • Control the further processing, delivery, installation or use of non-compliant Construction Work or supplied product until the unsatisfactory conditions are corrected, controlled or removed;
  • Coordinate quality activities with the CQM and any other agency having jurisdiction, including Utilities and Governmental Authorities;
  • Prepare and maintain quality records pertaining to their assigned portion of work.


Required Knowledge and Experience

  • B. Sc. Civil, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Bridge, Highway, Buildings or other major Infrastructure project construction.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in quality role with inspection, testing and related activities to units such as earthworks, concrete, formwork, rebar, PT, pre-cast concrete structural elements, paving,  grouting, bolting and torqueing, structural welding, building architecture, building installations, Electrical/instrumentation/HVAC
  • Quality certification is an asset.
  • Computer literate in MS Office (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
  • Familiar with inspection techniques related to the construction industry.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven organization and time management skills.
  • Design-Build or P3 Experience on Infrastructure Projects
