Position: Industrial Concrete Foreman
Employment: Full-Time
Location: Winnipeg, MB
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10hr days
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Industrial Concrete Foreman to lead crews on heavy civil and industrial concrete projects. The successful candidate will be a hands-on field leader with strong knowledge of concrete forming, reinforcing steel, embeds, anchor bolts, placement, finishing, and stripping.
This position is responsible for safely coordinating day-to-day concrete activities, directing crews, planning upcoming work, maintaining productivity, and ensuring work is completed according to drawings, specifications, schedule, and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise concrete carpenters, labourers, finishers, and other crew members.
- Plan daily work activities, manpower, equipment, tools, and materials.
- Coordinate concrete forming, rebar installation, embeds, anchor bolts, and concrete placements.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, IFC drawings, and details.
- Lay out and verify dimensions, elevations, openings, embeds, and anchor bolt locations.
- Coordinate inspections and concrete pours with site supervision and other trades.
- Direct formwork erection, bracing, stripping, and material handling.
- Monitor crew productivity and progress against the project schedule.
- Complete pre-pour checks and ensure work is ready prior to concrete placement.
- Maintain high standards for concrete quality and finished product.
- Identify field issues early and communicate them to the Superintendent.
- Coordinate equipment such as concrete pumps, cranes, telehandlers, skid steers, and placing equipment.
- Conduct toolbox talks, FLHAs/JHAs, and daily crew planning as required.
- Enforce company safety requirements and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviours.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
- Track labour hours, quantities installed, materials, equipment, and daily progress as required.
- Mentor apprentices and developing crew members.
- Work closely with Superintendents, Project Management, Quality, Safety, survey, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of concrete construction experience, preferably in industrial or heavy civil construction.
- Previous experience as a Concrete Foreman or Lead Hand.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Cast-in-place concrete
- Foundations and equipment pads
- Grade beams and walls
- Structural slabs
- Formwork systems
- Reinforcing steel
- Anchor bolts and embeds
- Concrete placement and finishing
- Ability to read and work from construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of elevations, layout, tolerances, and concrete dimensions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead crews and organize work efficiently.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to maintaining a safe jobsite.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver's licence.
- CSTS/CSO, First Aid, WHMIS, Fall Protection, or other project-specific certifications considered an asset.
