Position Overview

Aecon is currently seeking a Surveyor to join the Finch West LRT Project- a transformative transit infrastructure system for the Toronto Area. The Surveyor will responsible for the consistent, reliable and efficient translation of plans into field layout for operations, planning and engineering. The individual will provide technical information to the operations management team and crews in order for them to be effective in their work.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete various field survey requests and measurements as assigned
  • Setup and configure survey equipment
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated
  • Provide work control lines that are required for accurate measurement and correct installation by field staff
  • Maintain and verify provided control network
  • Coordinate and undertake planning and implementation of survey requirements to facilitate construction activities
  • Assist in the evaluation of potential field problems, quantity calculations and quality control
  • Provide cut / fill grids for earthwork operations
  • Perform layout work at various stages of construction as specified by the survey manager
  • Check as-built conditions that require the use of surveying techniques
  • Maintain accurate survey records, documentation and stamped submittals
  • Monitor work being completed in the field where surveying techniques are required
  • Communicate with operations, engineers and subcontractors to complete surveying tasks
  • Manage As Built information and digital records
  • Maintain accurate field notes and survey reports  


Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Surveying or Geomatics
  • Knowledge of survey practices and standards
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Construction surveying industry
  • Familiar with wide range of survey duties including earthwork, structural, utility and control
  • Must have a solid understanding of safety requirements on an active construction site and applicable safety policies
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in the use of office, data, surveying and engineering based software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of engineering design and survey methods
  • GPS and total station experience required
