What is the Opportunity?

Aecon Water is a national leader in the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure, specializing in the planning, construction, and rehabilitation of critical municipal and regional systems. We provide clients across Canada with end‑to‑end solutions, combining technical expertise, self‑perform capabilities, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and project delivery excellence.

Aecon Water Infrastructure is supporting the delivery of a major regional wastewater program in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and we are currently looking for a Project Coordinator to join the team. This project includes the construction of a new wastewater treatment facility and conveyance system serving southeast Manitoba, supporting long-term regional growth and improved environmental stewardship.

Reporting to the Project Controls Manager, the Project Coordinator supports the day‑to‑day execution of the project by assisting with schedule coordination, RFI's, progress tracking, reporting, procurement, and overall project coordination. The role involves working closely with the field team, engineering, subcontractors, and the owner to track deliverables, support forecasting, identify potential risks, and help ensure the project remains aligned with schedule and cost objectives.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Support project planning and coordination across engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontractors to keep work progressing to plan.
  • Assist with schedule and manpower coordination, including short interval planning support, look-aheads, and coordination of constraints.
  • Assist the Project Manager with cost and schedule forecasting activities by helping gather field information, reviewing trends, and supporting updates to project forecasts.
  • Support project controls deliverables such as progress tracking, productivity tracking, reporting, and forecast inputs as required.
  • Prepare, issue, and manage RFIs by working directly with the field to understand site issues, developing clear RFI packages, coordinating responses with engineering, and supporting redlining and close‑out as required.
  • Support material procurement activities by assisting superintendents with material requests, tracking purchase orders, and providing visibility on material deliveries to ensure work can be executed as planned.
  • Coordinate closely with the Quality team by providing required material documentation, notifying QC when work is ready for inspection, and supporting inspection and turnover activities.
  • Provide day‑to‑day support to the Superintendent and field team by assisting with coordination, information flow, and addressing project needs as they arise.
  • Help ensure accurate labour and quantity tracking by working with field supervision to confirm time and costs are charged to the appropriate cost codes.
  • Maintain accurate and complete project records to support quality, turnover, and close‑out requirements, including site diaries, photo records, quantity tracking, and field documentation.
  • Actively participate in project safety initiatives by attending field walks, identifying potential hazards, and supporting the project team in maintaining a strong safety culture.
  • Assist with document control and contract administration activities (e.g., tracking RFIs, submittals, field records, and project correspondence).

What You Bring to the Team:

  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and develop new skills in a fast‑paced project environment.
  • Professional communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors, subcontractors, consultants, engineers, and clients.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work as part of a diverse team, supporting both office‑based staff and field crews.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage large task lists, prioritize work, and follow through on commitments.
  • Computer literacy with confidence using Microsoft tools; comfortable working in Excel, including creating and using basic formulas.
  • Interest in leveraging technology and digital tools (including Copilot and similar productivity tools) to improve efficiency and support project success.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and take initiative to support the project team where needed.
  • A commitment to working safely and supporting a strong safety culture on site.
